Interest rate controls in Europe finally being considered...

The DTI have appointed Policis to undertake the research project on the impact of interest rate controls in other countries. According to their website (www.policis.co.uk) Policis have 'a special interest in regulatory and legislative effects and in consumer protection and education, particularly in relation to financial services.'

This represents the first serious attempt of any UK Government to investigate how interest rate controls operate in practice across Europe, and is to be welcomed. Representatives from Debt on our Doorstep will be meeting with Policis in early October.
