Home Credit investigation needs you!
19th May 2005

Following the Competition Commission's open meeting in Manchester on 19th May, the Commission has asked customers of door to door lenders to contact them directly and to provide their views on the industry and has set up a Freephone line - 0800 528 2050 and a Freepost address - FREEPOST, COMPETITION COMMISSION) to help them to give their views. If you have using, or have in the past used, door to door lenders then please contact the Commission and have your say.

At the meeting, lenders claimed that 90% of customers were satisfied with door to door loans although Provident Financial refused to release the details of the surveys on which this claim was based to Debt on our Doorstep. Debt on our Doorstep is therefore asking agencies to participate in a national survey of home credit. We have produced a questionnaire for this purpose which should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. If you are ion contact with home credit users please take the time to complete the questionnaire and send the completed responses for analysis to Debt on our Doorstep c/o CAP, Central Buildings, Oldham Street, Manchester M1 1JT.

A copy of the questionnaire is available here

The deadline for the receipt of all questionnaires is 31st July 2005.
